Coronavirus: 329 new cases in Italy

Death toll rises by 43

(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 17 - The Civil Protection Department said Wednesday that Italy has registered 329 new cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
    That is up from 210 new cases on Tuesday.
    Five regions, Puglia, Umbria, Valle d'Aosta, Calabria and Basilicata, and the autonomous province of Bolzano, had no new cases.
    The department said 43 COVID-19 sufferers had died here in a single day, taking the overall death toll up to 34,448.
    On Tuesday the death toll rose by 34.
    It said the number of people to have recovered from COVID-19 here is 179,455, up 929.
    The number of people who are currently positive for the coronavirus is 23,925, down 644 compared to Tuesday.
    The department said the total number of cases in Italy, including the currently positive, the deceased and the recovered, now stands at 237,828. (ANSA).
