(ANSA) - Rome, May 15 - Italy's supreme Court of Cassation ruled Wednesday that children born with assisted fertility methods are legitimate even when this fertilisation is done post mortem.
This is provided that the father gives his agreement before dying, together with his wife.
The ruling came in the case of a girl born with frozen sperm.
Birth certificates must recognise paternity and the children must be given their father's name, the Cassation Court said.
