17% of alcohol-linked ER cases under 14

(ANSA) - Rome, November 2 - Some 17% of the cass of alcohol poisoning that turn up at ER wards are under 14 years of age, an age when their metabolisms are not ready to metabolise ethanol, the Italian Society of Alcohology said in a new report on Friday.
    "Up till 21 years the organism is unprepared and there is a risk of ethylic coma," it said.
