Makes communications 'much more efficient'

(ANSA) - Rome, February 22 - An Italian-born device turbodrives the Internet, the journal Nature Phonics said Thursday. The device, from the TeCIP institute of Pisa's Scuola Superiore di Santa'Anna and the Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario per le Telecomunicazioni (CNIT), is able to send complex signals on fibre-optic cables, making communications "much more efficient," the journal said.
    It said it was a revolution comparable to that which has happned in electronics thanks to ever smaller and more powerful chips, the journal report said.
