'I believe in science'

(ANSA) - Rome, April 19 - Ex-premier and former Democratic Party (PD) leader Matteo Renzi on Wednesday called the leaders of the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) "improvised" and "devoid of scientific ethics" in their criticism of vaccines. "I say it loud and clear: I believe in science, not in sorcerer's apprentices," said Renzi, stressing "I trust the opinions of doctors, not the algorithms of the (M5S) spokesmen.
I follow the thought of (Rita) Levi Montalcini and (Umberto) Veronesi, not (M5S) leader Beppe Grillo and his ideas on mammographs". Grillo and his M5S have frequently appeared to side with vaccine skeptics who are seen as encouraging Italians not to get their kids vaccinated.
