(ANSA) - Milan, April 19 - A new clinical genomics lab at Milan's European Oncology Institute (IEO) will kick off by running a new test able to map a genetic cancer risk by analysing 115 hereditary genetic mutations of all kinds, sources said Wednesday. The test will be carried out free for a year on ovarian cancer patients, IEO scientific director Roberto Orecchia said. IEO research chief Piergiuseppe Pelicci said that "among the advantages is to be able to better identify the individual risk, set up personalised protection paths, to be able to identify a greater number of hereditary cancers, and to seek preventive molecular drugs which combat them".
