Hawking to spend night in Rome hospital

(ANSA) - Rome, December 2 - World famous British physicist and mathematician Stephen Hawking is set to spend the night at Rome's Gemelli hospital as a precautionary measure after being admitted for checks, sources said Friday. The scientist, who suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), is in Rome to take part in the plenary assembly of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and met Pope Francis during the visit.
