(ANSA) - Rome, December 1 - Google's Cultural Institute initiative has launched a digital platform for watching theatre, music and dance shows that will include 360 degree views of some performances. The platform, accessible at g.co/performingarts, has collaborated with theatres including London's Carnegie Hall and the Berliner Philharmonie. In Italy, it has teamed up with Rome's Teatro dell' Opera and Naples' Teatro di San Carlo.
"We are happy to collaborate with so many institutions that represent the best of theatre, dance, music and opera in the world," said Amit Sood, director of the Google Cultural Institute.
"For the first time we have reunited them all in one unique virtual space. Our aim is to make performance arts accessible to everyone, capture the attention of curious people and make it possible to pick up on details that even the most avid fans have never seen before," he said.
Through the collaboration with Rome's Teatro dell Opera, users will be able to watch the production and behind-the-scenes moments from the "Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny" opera, using Google Cardboard 3D viewing glasses for a virtual reality experience.
