(ANSA) - Rome, April 17 - The Ebola epidemic is waning but
not over, the World Health Organisation said Friday,
contradicting Italian relief doctor Gino Strada's contention it
had ended.
"The epidemic is still not over and requires a continual
commitment and funds to reach zero cases," WHO spokesman Gregory
Hartl told ANSA.
The number of cases is dropping and transmission zones are
coming down too, he said.
Strada, founder of the Emergency war-zone medical group,
said on his Facebook page Thursday night that the battle against
Ebola "has been won".
