Meloni heard by House Honour Jury on ESM

Report due to be presented by February 9

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 19 - Premier and Brothers of Italy (FdI) leader Giorgia Meloni on Friday appeared before the Lower House's so-called Jury of Honour ethics panel in relation to statements made in the chamber on the reform of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), the eurozone's bailout mechanism for states, which Italy alone has failed to ratify.
The hearing was requested by the ex premier and 5-Star Movement (M5S) leader Giuseppe Conte following alleged "serious and false" claims made by the premier concerning his government's handling of the ESM reform.
Conte appeared separately before the same panel of five MPS chaired by Deputy House Speaker Giorgio Mulè of the centre-right Forza Italia, a coalition partner in Meloni's right-centre government, on Thursday.
The Jury of Honour will produce its findings no later than February 9. (ANSA).
