Anti-gay general Vannacci unveils autobiography

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 17 - An Italian general who is under disciplinary proceedings for a self-published book slating gays, Jews, feminists and migrants which has become a best seller on Wednesday unveiled his autobiography, Courage Wins.
    Former crack paratroop commander Roberto Vannacci, 55, who has become a hero to the anti-politically correct lobby and who the rightwing League party wants to put up for the European parliament in June, said his story will come out on March 12, published by Piemme.
    The publisher's blurb said: "Italy's most famous general, author of the biggest selling and most hotly debate book of the moment, The World Back To Front, this time leads the reader in the discovery of a man who has chosen to be a leader in every moment of his life.
    "Always in the front line, the protagonist of unpredictable and unconventional choices, able to achieve the impossible.
    "A very personal volume which in the end says that courage wins".
    Vannacci was sacked as head of the army's military geographical institute in Florence at the behest of Defence Minister Guido Crosetto but then apparently promoted to chief of staff of army ground operations in Rome.
    However, his disciplinary proceedings are still pending.
    League leader Matteo Salvini on Wednesday confirmed that "we are talking about putting the general on our slate for the European elections" on June 8-9.
    In The World Back To Front, Vannacci says, among other things, that gays aren't normal. (ANSA).
