I will be in square to fight prejudice says Gualtieri

(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 5 - Rome's centre-left city council is sponsoring Saturday's Roma Pride march for the gay community after the rightwing regional government pulled its sponsorship saying the event supported surrogacy, which the Italian right says should be a universal crime, centre left Democratic Party (PD) Mayor Roberto Gualtieri said Monday.
"Roma Pride is an important event for the LGBT+ community and for all citizens who fight discrimination and support rights.
This is why Roma Capitale has assured its patronage and why I will be in the square for Pride on Saturday," Gualtieri tweeted.
