But court will be allowed to review plan afterwards says Fitto

(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 1 - The Lower House Constitutional Affairs and labour committees on Thursday voted to strip the Audit Court of 'concomitant' oversight powers on the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) in an amendment to a civil service reform decree.
NRRP Minister Raffaele Fitto meanwhile explained that the court would still have powers to review the plan after it is implemented, only losing the powers while it is being implemented.
The court had voiced dismay at reports it would be wholly stripped of these powers, and court officials met government representatives including Fitto on Thursday.
The amendment removes the so-called concurrent control of the Court on all expenditure of monies from the post-COVID EU recovery fund.
It also extends by one year, until 30 June 2024, the so-called shield on the rules on fiscal damage.
The curbing of the court's NRRP oversight powers comes after the justices criticised delays to the implementation of the plan.
