Elections: Turnout down from 13.86% to 12% at noon

Italians voting in key political test

(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 28 - Turnout was down at 12 noon for the ballots in seven provincial capitals and 34 municipalities: the figure was 12% (1,595 out of 1,595 sections), down from the first round (13.86%), according to the interior ministry (Viminale) website.
    In Sardinia, where 171 municipalities are voting in the first round, the partial turnout at 12 noon was 17.17% (compared 22.93% in the previous municipal elections).
    Turnout was also down in Sicily, where first-round voting is also taking place with the possible run-offs in two weeks' time.
