'Some issues need more in-depth examination' says premier

(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 10 - Premier Giorgia Meloni said that she was "highly satisfied" with the special European Council summit which concluded overnight with an agreement on managing migrant flows and economic issues.
She added, however, that "I think some issues need to be examined (further) in depth".
The EU leaders agreed to on the need to pay more attention to controlling and protecting the bloc's external border and recognised the specific nature of the sea border, which Italy had been calling for, as well as giving the green light to more flexible use of existing funds and faster State aid.
Meloni is set to give a press conference on Friday.
The summit was overshadowed by tension between Italy and France after French President Emmanuel Macron organized a meeting in Paris on Wednesday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz without involving Meloni.
The Italian premier said this decision was "inopportune".
