Pro-Cospito protestors should be sectioned - Salvini

(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 3 - Deputy Premier and Infrastructure Minister Matteo Salvini said Friday that the people involved in a wave of vandalism, violent protests and threats in support of jailed anarchist leader Alfredo Cospito should be imprisoned or subjected to involuntary hospitalization for being mentally disturbed.
    Cospito has been on hunger strike for over 100 days to protest against the tough 41 bis jail regime he is being held under.
    The 41 bis is usually reserved for mafia bosses.
    "Those who express violence should be criminally prosecuted," Salvini said.
    "Those inciting armed struggle in 2023 should be hospitalized, sectioned or taken to prison.
    "The prison gates are open for those who think they can solve problems with threats, attacks, insults and by throwing Molotov cocktails.
    "If anyone has nostalgia for the Years of Lead (of political violence in Italy in the 1970s and 1980s) they should get their just deserts". (ANSA).
