(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 24 - President Sergio Mattarella said Tuesday that Italy's judiciary has the necessary resources to get over its recent problems and meet the challenges of the future.
"In its Constitutional values, its sphere and its history, the judiciary has the resources to face the difficulties and to ensure - with authoritativeness and credibility - the respect for the law that is indispensable for the life and civic growth of society," Mattarella said at the ceremony to bid farewell to the outgoing members of the CSM, the judiciary's self-governing body.
The head of State admitted that the term of the outgoing CSM had been a "complex" one due to the "serious episodes that hit it".
The judiciary has been hit by recent scandals involving magistrates and politicians regarding allegations of influence peddling and corruption. (ANSA).
