(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 5 - Defence Minister Guido Crosetto on Thursday flatly denied Russian claims that Rome supplied Kyiv with anti-personnel mines.
Crosetto described as "completely false, unfounded and seriously denigrating to the honour of our country the statements made by the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova", according to which Italy has supplied anti-personnel devices to Ukraine.
"Italy signed the (international) Mine Ban Treaty (Ottawa Treaty) on 3 December 1997 and became a State party to the Treaty on 1 October 1999," Crosetto stressed.
"Italy does not produces anti-personnel mines and does not supply them to any country in the world, Including Ukraine,' Crosetto said. (ANSA).
