(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 9 - President Sergio Mattarella and
Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin are to
discuss peace moves in Ukraine along the lines of the landmark
1975 Helsinki Accords on East-West detente at the height o the
Cold War, the Holy See said Friday.
The initiative will be the focus of a conference at the Italian
embassy to the Holy See next Thursday, it said.
Sources said it would be a joint Italy-Vatican initiative to
find a diplomatic path towards a solution of the conflict in
Ukraine, a meeting to discuss and promote peace in light of the
"spirit of Helsinki". (ANSA).
