(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 30 - The outcome of Italy's general
election should be respected said European Parliament President
Roberta Metsola after talks with Brothers of Italy (FdI) leader
Giorgia Meloni on Friday.
Meloni looks set to be Italy's next premier as FdI was the
driving force of the right coalition's victory in last Sunday's
general election.
"I have always said that I have full confidence in democracy and
the democratic process," Metsola said.
"The Italian people have voted and, as with all the other member
States, the decision should be respected.
"Italy is a founder nation of the European Union and it will
continue to have a fundamental role for Europe". (ANSA).
