Following Italy with 'astonishment' - Gentiloni

Stability is a value says European Commissioner

(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 14 - European Economy Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni expressed concern on Thursday after the Italian government was plunged into uncertainty by the 5-Star Movement's decision not to take part in a confidence vote on a government decree.
"When it comes to political developments in Italy, I often talk about rough waters," former Italian premier Gentiloni said.
"In these waters made rough by war, high inflation, energy risks and geopolitical tensions, stability is a value in itself. "I think that cohesion is needed at the moment and not instability.
"Obviously we are following the situation with detachment from an official point of view.
"The detachment is a bit more relative from a personal point of view.
"I'd say we are following things with concerned astonishment".
