(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 20 - President Sergio Mattarella called
for stronger action to help people forced to flee their home
country to escape conflict or persecution on World Refugee Day
on Monday.
"Italy contributes with responsibility to the moral and legal
obligation to provide solidarity, assistance and reception to
refugees, guaranteeing full support to the United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees and promoting incisive, supportive
commitments on migration and asylum in the European
institutions," Mattarella said.
"Action for refugees must now be reinforced, on the basis of a
multilateral approach that Italy has historically been a
convinced supporter of". (ANSA).
