(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 13 - Premier Mario Draghi said Friday that
the government must press on with reforms it has pledged to
implement in exchange for EU funding for its National Recovery
and Resilience Plan (NRRP) or risk losing out on the cash.
"The structure of the NRRP foresees the allocation of funding
being bound to the respect of deadlines for the achievement of
precise goals," Draghi told the Verso Sud' forum organized by
the Minister for the South Mara Carfagna.
"We must proceed rapidly with the reforms agreed with the
European Union in order not to lose access to the funding and be
able to overcome the fragilities that have slowed the growth of
Italy and the South of the country (in particular)".
The EU has allocated close to 200 billion euro to Italy in
grants and low-interest loans as part of its COVID-19 recovery
plan, the NextGenerationEU programme, for the NRRP. (ANSA).
