(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 7 - Tuesday's La Scala premiere will be a
tribute to President Sergio Mattarella on his last appearance
there, Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala said.
Mattarella, 80, concludes his term as president in February and
has rejected suggestions he might stand again.
"This evening I imagine a great tribute to our very beloved
president," said Sala ahead of the premiere, where music
director Riccardo Chailly will conduct Verdi's Macbeth in front
of a full audience.
Milan's Ambrogino d'Oro or Golden St Ambrose medals will also be
handed out. (ANSA).
