(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 1 - Foreign Minister and 5-Star Movement
(M5S) bigwig Luigi Di Maio on Wednesday called on the government
allies to calm down and find solutions after a recent round of
bickering over the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) bailout
fund and other issues.
"The temper of political life has become too heated in recent
days," he said.
"Let's calm down, talk to each other and find solutions".
Di Maio said "that's what people expect from us".
The M5S and its main partner, the Democratic Party (PD), are at
odds over using the ESM with the M5S saying it comes with too
many strings attached and the PD arguing it is safe for Italy to
use.
The centre-right opposition is also against using the ESM for
COVID-linked spending.
Di Maio stressed that the government had agreed on a tax wedge
cut that had given more money to 16 million Italians. (ANSA).
