(ANSA) - Rome, May 20 - +Europa leader Emma Bonino on Monday blasted the government following a series of high-voltage clashes between the coalition partners, the League and the 5-Star Movement (M5S). "What is happening in Italy leaves me speechless," the former European commissioner and Italian foreign minister told an ANSA Forum ahead of this week's European elections. "We are reaching the height of political absurdity".
She singled out for criticism Deputy Premiers Matteo Salvini and Luigi Di Maio, the leaders of the League and the M5S respectively. "We have Salvini preaching like an evangelical christian with a rosary in Milan (on Saturday), attacking those who don't have the same opinion as him.
"Then Di Maio attacks the UN over a decree that is in Salvini's head. "They seem like two yarn merchants to me. We are completely isolated in Europe".
