(ANSA) - Rome, May 15 - Media Undersecretary Vito Crimi on Wednesday said the government has at the moment no intention of extending Radio Radicale's contract to cover parliamentary debate and other political stories.
"Regarding the convention with Radio Radicale, as of today there is no will to extend" it, Crimi told parliament's oversight committee.
He added that the radio's extensive archive "will not disappear on May 21" as it is "currently privately owned".
Last month, the government announced that it would not renew Radio Radicale's contract, which expires on May 20.
Crimi said the historic Radical Party broadcaster had provided a service for 25 years without having to go through any competitive tender or evaluation of the service's value.
