(ANSA) - Palermo, May 13 - Deputy Premier Luigi Di Maio's
5-Star Movement (M5S) performed well in runoff votes in local
elections for a handful of Sicilian councils at the weekend,
prevailing in Caltanissetta and Castelvetrano.
The results were positive for M5S after a series of
disappointing showings in recent regional elections.
However, fellow Deputy Premier Matteo Salvini's League party,
the driving force of a run of recent centre-right election wins,
did less well than expected.
