(ANSA) - Rome, February 21 - Stefano Patuanelli, the Senate
whip for the 5-Star Movement (M5S), said Thursday that Interior
Minister Matteo Salvini has been "called upon several times" to
have neo-Fascist group CasaPound evicted from a central Roman
building it is illegally occupying.
"The only political group to have always had a coherent
stance on the eviction of the property illegally occupied by the
CasaPound party is the 5-Star Movement," Patuanelli said.
"There are no first-tier and second-tier evictions for us.
"Our pole star is respect for the law. This is the only
instrument to solve the housing emergency in Italy and the rest
of Italy".
The economy ministry on Wednesday replied to Rome Mayor
Virginia Raggi's demand to evict CasaPound from the building by
saying the eviction was "not a priority", sources said.
The building is owned by the State so the ministry's OK was
needed to proceed with the eviction.
