Medics chief warn against autonomy drive

Anelli says serious effects for people's health possible

(ANSA) - Bari, February 18 - Filippo Anelli, the head of the Italian federation of surgeon guilds, on Monday launched a campaign warning that the drive for greater autonomy of Lombardia, Veneto and Emilia-Romagna could have "serious effects on citizens' health".
    One of the main jobs of Italy's regional governments is providing health services and there are fears that inequality could be created by some regions having more control over their budgets than others.
