Genoa decree on floor of House Wednesday

Reconstruction commissioner will have to respect antimafia code

(ANSA) - Rome, October 23 - The government's decree containing measures for Genoa following the August Morandi-bridge disaster is set to arrive on the floor of the Lower House on Tuesday after being approved by a joint session of the environment and transport committees on Tuesday.
The decree was amended to ensure that Mayor Marco Bucci, the commissioner for the reconstruction of the viaduct that will replace the Morandi bridge, will have to follow the anti-mafia code.
Raffaele Cantone, the head of Italy's anti-corruption authority ANAC, had said there was a risk of mafia infiltration in the work because the decree had exempted the commissioner from following the anti-mafia code as part of special powers to tackle the emergency.
