Conte, Di Maio, Salvini to dine Monday evening

(ANSA) - Rome, October 22 - Premier Giuseppe Conte and his two deputy premiers, Labour and Industry Minister and 5-Star Movement (M5S) leader Luigi Di Maio and Interior Minister and League leader Matteo Salvini, will have a dinner Monday night to smooth over a recent tax-amnesty row, political sources said.
The row fuelled tensions to the highest level yet between the two government allies.
It was settled at the weekend when plans for a 'fiscal peace' amnesty were modified after the first version of the decree sparked a rebellion by the M5S.
Earlier Monday Di Maio said the government will last the whole of the parliamentary term after the row was resolved. "We'll go on for five years to implement the contract of government," Di Maio told RTL 102.5 radio. "Those who are banking on the collapse of the government will have a nasty surprise". The government was rocked last week when Di Maio said a decree linked to the budget had been manipulated without the M5S's consent to broaden the scope of the fiscal peace to help people terminate disputes with the tax authorities.
According to reports, the League had allegedly raised thresholds and extended the decree to allegedly include tax dodging and money laundering, as well as money held abroad. On Saturday, Di Maio, Conte and Salvinireached a deal on the decree that saw an amnesty for capital returning from overseas scrapped. Di Maio said relations with Conte and Salvini were excellent.
"Every time the three of us see each other and talk, we find a solution," he said.
