(ANSA) - Rome, October 11 - Deputy Premier and Interior
Minister Matteo Salvini on Thursday dismissed talk of the
government introducing a wealth tax to help finance spending
measures in its programme.
"There will not be any wealth taxes or withdrawals from the
bank accounts of the Italian people," Salvini, the leader of the
rightwing League party, told Radio Radicale.
"We won't ask for wedding rings to save the country and we
don't intend to take money from current accounts. It's all
fantasy.
"I have read fanciful, science-fiction reconstructions in the
newspapers, but that's the beauty of the free press".
