Regulations on same-sex couples assessed for first time

(ANSA) - Rome, October 9 - The function of a surname used but without being official in the registrar does not bear on the right to the name, identity and dignity of an individual. In addition, the decision contained within the implementing decree on the ''Cirinnà Law'' must be considered legitimate, Italy's Constitutional Court ruled on Tuesday. For the first time, the court weighed the legitimacy of the regulations on civil unions between people of the same gender as concerns the surname chosen by the parties involved in them.
