(ANSA) - Rome, September 25 - Financial cover for the Genoa
bridge decree has been found, contrary to media reports, and the
decree will go to President Sergio Mattarella before being
published in the Official Gazette, a statement from the
premier's office said Tuesday.
It said the intervention in the capital account was already
"wholly" funded this year.
Furthermore, those in current accounts were also funded for
2018, and, in part, for subsequent years.
Genoa's Morandi Bridge collapsed August 14 killing 43 people.
A replacement is set to be built with funding from the
Autostrade per l'Italia (ASPI) motorway concessionary, which
will not however be involved in the construction.
Earlier economic and finance ministry sources said Italy's
general accounting office has not blocked a decree on the
reconstruction of the Morandi Bridge.
The comment was in reference to leaks reported by a website.
They added that the office was seeking how to cover the
decree since it had come "without any indication of costs and
how they would be covered" and that technical experts from the
office were working on estimating costs and finding possible
ways to cover them, to subsequently be submitted to the
administration.
