Fiscal peace only for people in difficulty says deputy premier

(ANSA) - Rome, September 24 - Deputy Premier and Labour and Industry Minister Luigi Di Maio reiterated in a newspaper article on Monday that the government should allow Italy's deficit to go up to finance plans for a 'citizenship wage' basic income. In the interview with Il Fatto Quotidiano, the leader of the 5-Star Movement (M5S) also said that plans for 'fiscal peace' should be limited to help taxpayers with minor disputes with the authorities and should not end up being an amnesty for big tax evaders.
"It is for people in difficulty," Di Maio said.
"An amnesty (for tax disputes of) up to one million euros is unacceptable for us. "In fact, jail for evaders will be in the tax decree at the end of September".
