(ANSA) - Chengdu, September 19 - Deputy Premier and Labour
and Industry Minister Luigi Di Maio told reporters on Wednesday
that "I have full confidence in Economy Minister Giovanni Tria".
"I have full confidence in the team work we are doing as a
government," the 5-Star Movement (M5S) leader added during a
trip to China.
The issue of finding the money in the upcoming budget law for
the M5S's flagship campaign pledge, the 'citizenship wage' basic
income, is reportedly causing tension between Tria and the
movement.
On Tuesday Di Maio told ANSA Tuesday that he had not asked
for Tria's resignation but added that "a serious minister must
find the money" for the policy pledges.
On Wednesday Di Maio said the basic income and the
government's two other big programme pledges - plans for a
two-tier flat tax and a pension overhaul - would feature in the
2019 budget law.
"These are the three priorities," Di Maio said.
"Yes, we'll put them in the budget law".
