Will see parties before Mattarella consultations

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - Rome, March 27 - Anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) leader Luigi Di Maio, whose party came top in the March 4 general election but without a majority and who is insisting on being the next Italian premier, said Tuesday he would see parties before President Sergio Mattarella begins government-formation consultations next week. Di Maio said his aim was to see "who wants solutions" to the parliamentary impasse. He said a sense of responsibility was needed. Asked about his insisting on being premier, Di Maio replied "the popular will counts and the M5S got 32% of the vote".
