Berlusconi 'immortal' says Maroni (2)

'Hope he'll get Merkel to give us EMA', he jokes

(ANSA) - Milan, November 6 - Three-time premier and centre-right Forza Italia leader Silvio Berlusconi is "immortal", Lombardy Governor Roberto Maroni of the rightwing Northern League (FN) said Monday after the FI-LN's Nello Musumeci won the elections for Sicilian governor, beating the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) which had been favoured in the polls. Maroni added jokingly he hoped Berlusconi would persuade German Chancellor Angela Merkel to let Milan have the European Medicines Agency (EMA) when it leaves London, post-Brexit.
Musumeci, also backed by the rightist Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, has beaten the M5S's Giancarlo Cancelleri by four points according to the latest projections.
Media magnate Berlusconi, 81, campaigned heavily for Musumeci in the run-up to Sunday's vote.
