China's Xi meets Mattarella

(ANSA) - Beijing, February 22 - Chinese President Xi Jinping gave a personal commitment "to promote even higher bilateral relations" as he received Italian President Sergio Mattarella in Beijing on Wednesday. Xi said he was convinced that Mattarella's visit would be useful to have even better relations between Rome and Beijing in the future. He stressed that Italy and China are both civilizations that are thousands of years old and "have always had reciprocal fascination and respect".
