Unemployment steady at 11.6% in Q3

(ANSA) - Rome, December 7 - Italy's unemployment rate for the third quarter was 11.6%, stable with respect to the second quarter but 0.4 of a percentage point up on the same period in 2015, ISTAT said on Wednesday. The employment rate was also steady with respect to the second quarter at 57.3%, although that was up 0.8 of a point with respect to the third quarter of 2015. The proportion of people considered inactive because they are not in work or actively looking for a job was 35.1%, the same as the second quarter, but down by 1.2 points on the equivalent period last year.
