Const'nal court hearing on Italicum (2)

On Constitutional objections to law

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - Rome, December 6 - The Constitutional Court on Tuesday set January 24 for a hearing on objections raised on Constitutional grounds against the Italicum election law, which the court is set to review to see if it complies with the Constitution. Objections have been raised against the law, passed earlier this year, on the grounds, among other things, that it assigns an unfairly large bonus to the winning party.
Under the law, parties that win 37% of the vote get a bonus allotting them 54% of the seats in the Lower House.
