Commissioner Pierre Moscovici said Monday that he was "struck"
by the outcome of Italy's Constitutional referendum, while
adding that he did not see it causing a crisis for the EU. He
also said that he thought Matteo Renzi had been a "good premier
who conducted important social and economic reforms". "We have
faith in the Italian authorities," he added. "It's a solid
country that we can count on... It's not a psychodrama. It's a
domestic Italian political affair with important consequences
for Italy, but it won't become a European crisis".
