We'll wind up Italicum talks next week (3)

House Whip confident of success

(ANSA) - Rome, October 27 - The ruling centre-left Democratic Party (PD) will wind up internal talks on changing the Italicum electoral law next week, PD Lower House Whip Luigi Zanda said Thursday, saying he was confident of success to heal an internal rift over the December 4 referendum on Constitutional reform. PD leader and Premier Matteo Renzi set up an internal body to debate changes after a dissenting minority demanded changes, saying that if it was satisfied it would vote in favour of the government's controversial overhaul of Italy's political machinery. The areas being reviewed are the run-off, the winner's bonus and the way MPs are selected, with the minority pushing for voters to be able to directly select more of them.
