M5S challenged after disastrous start

Signs of internal conflict, weight of 'inexperience'

(ANSA) - London, October 25 - The anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) has some big challenges ahead after the "disastrous" beginning to M5S member Virginia Raggi's term as mayor of the capital, the latest issue of the Economist noted. The British weekly discussed the seven years since the anti-establishment movement was formed and how the "populist" group became the largest opposition force in Italy, but stressed that it is now that it will be put to the test. The Economist noted that ever more internal conflicts are arising and that the biggest problem is the inexperience of those elected to public office. In referring to Rome, the weekly said that if the movement proves unable to govern a city, then voters will conclude that it should not be given the task of governing a country.
