Sicilian mayor detained in graft probe

(ANSA) - Catania, October 10 - The mayor of the Sicilian town of Aci Catena, Ascenzio Maesano was detained by anti-mafia investigators on Monday in relation to a probe into alleged corruption in contracts for local public services. A local businessman and a councillor in Maesano's executive were also detained. Maesano was elected in 2012 at the head of a coalition of civic electoral lists.
