Equitalia: new tasks from Lombardy

But economy head Garavaglia denies report

(ANSA) - Rome, September 20 - The Chief Executive of Equitalia said on Tuesday that the tax collection agency would continue to work in Lombardy after the governor of the northern Italian region said his administration had sacked the agency.
However, regional economic head Massimo Garavaglia said no new work had been handed Equitalia since Governor Roberto Maroni said he had sacked Equitalia as of September 15.
He said the claimed work referred to 2012 and before.
Equitalia head Ernesto Maria Ruffini made the comments during a talk in front of the finance commission of the Senate, according to ANSA sources.
Ruffini said that new claims had come from the region regarding taxes on cars, amounting to several millions of euros.
They had been received last week, a few days after Maroni said he had "fired" Equitalia.
Maroni, a senior member of the federalist Northern League, said last week the region had entrusted the collection of regional taxes to a new concessionaire from September 15.
