Numbers don't lie says Renzi

(ANSA) - Rome, August 31 - Numbers don't lie, Premier Matteo Renzi said Wednesday as he launched the #Trenta (Italian for the number thirty) hashtag with one slide for each of his 30 months in office. Each frame shows before-and-after Renzi employment, tax, GDP and other numbers, with unemployment dropping from 13.1% before he took office in 2014 to 11.4% now. "We're bombarded with numbers, statistics, figures," he wrote in his online newsletter. "And yet it's possible to tell the truth in a clear and simple way. Numbers are clear. Figures don't lie".
    There is still much to do and Italy must work hard to achieve its goals, the premier added.
    Among others, the #Trenta slides include ones for GDP (-1.9% yesterday, +1% today), the deficit (3% versus 2.4%), museum visitors (38.4 million against 43.3 million), and tourist arrivals (50.2 million versus 53.3 millon).
