Italy budget office sees slower growth

1.2% growth forecast for 2016 does not look achievable

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - Rome, July 26 - Italy's parliamentary budget office said on Tuesday that the official government forecast for the economy to grow by 1.2% in 2016 did not look achievable following Britain's vote to leave the European Union.
The independent body, which is responsible for analysing official government forecasts, said assuming a fourth quarter of contained growth, the 2016 growth rate would likely be "slightly under 1%".
It also said it now expected a "less dynamic recovery" in 2017 compared to previous estimates.
