Muraro confronts Fortini over garbage

Muraro barges in on Fortini, confronts him over Rome garbage

(ANSA) - Rome, July 25 - Rome city cabinet member for the environment Paola Muraro on Monday barged in on AMA trash collection company chief Daniele Fortini to confront him over the ongoing garbage emergency in the nation's capital.
"We're not leaving until we get answers," Muraro told Fortini.
"When you see garbage lying in the streets your job is to collect it - you can't just leave it lying there".
Muraro went on to tell the executive she personally saw "mountains of trash bags" left uncollected in Rome's central Via Nazionale, which is a public security issue "because one could hide a bomb there".
Fortini replied that public security is not AMA's job and that he has given orders for garbage to be collected every day, going on to point the finger at businesses and consumers who don't pay their trash collection tax.
Muraro replied that some citizens get tired of paying for non-existent services.
